This cloudy northwest afternoon, I have the privilege and honor of sharing with you a tidbit from E.K. Seaver, writing friend and author of the upcoming release, The Reflections – which, if you recall from the cover spotlight a few weeks ago, is a Christian dystopic novel releasing in June of this year. In celebration of E.K.’s new release, and as part of the blog tour, I asked for her thoughts on how her faith played into influencing the writing of The Reflections. What she had to say in response was so refreshing and encouraging to read – and my hope is that this glimpse into the process and heart of her novel would be a blessing and encouragement to you as well.

That time leading up to Easter was a time of tremendous growth for me, as my sister and I met every night that we could to read through the book of Mark and pray together. To My Father is the poem that came out of that forty-day experience, particularly inspired by the week of lament and confession. It’s a poem I hold especially dear as the prayer of my heart. My hope is that it would be an encouragement to you, wherever you are in your journey.

And if I had to describe 2021, I’d say it was certainly a ride.
At times, it seemed a crazy wild ride, with all the ups and downs and curly cues life tends to throw. At other times, it felt very streamlined, like I was rushing superfast toward an end goal, the scenery along the way turned into a blur, traveling so fast I couldn’t catch my breath. Thing after thing after thing kept me going, going, going. And then BOOM. All of a sudden, 2021 is over. And as I think back, I can see a lot of reasons why I’m ready to get off and start afresh.
